Rolf Mortenson is the alpha-monkey behind monkeypuzzle
studio. The studio grew out of his experiences
that evolved from plant science
and landscape design, branching into marketing and curating
design exhibits, then blossoming into graphic design.
While primarily
working in print collateral with Lemon Design during the dawn
of the web in the early 1990's, he quickly learned to swing
among the branches of website directory trees
while monkeying around with HTML in it's infancy. Making the
leap
to full time web development in 1997, he joined the legendary
San Francisco web shop 415 Productions as Senior Designer,
collaborating with some of the web's best talent on projects for
some of the world's
great organizations and brands.
Despite the dot-coms' catastrophic collision
with a meteor that wiped out nearly all species of online agencies,
Rolf still believes in the beneficial power of an effective online
presence coupled with good
design throughout an organization.
His clients have included non-profits
such as
Library of Congress, San Francisco Symphony, Seattle Symphony,
KQED Public Broadcasting, Kiriyama Pacific
Rim Institute,
Mission Housing Development
Organization, and the Electric Vehicle Assoc. of the Americas;
and corporations such as Levi Strauss & Co.,
Lego, HP, Sony, Autodesk, Fairmont
Hotels, Edify, and Oracle.
Rolf has lived in Tokyo and Brazil and currently
makes his home in San Francisco.
